Recumbent Exercise Bike Ratings And The LifeCycle Exercise Bike
Grabbing some numbers from recumbent exercise bike ratings and going with the highest ratings and the largest number of ratings seems to be a quick way to disappointment. There is a trick to ratings and ignorance of the trick will almost always lead to a certain spot. Here's what I mean.
Recumbent Exercise Bike Ratings Tricks
The largest number of ratings will almost always be found with the very cheapest of bikes. Just by the nature of price shopping the largest number of bikes sold will be in the cheap bikes. Realize that most exercise equipment will not be used much if at all. People buy hopes and dreams after all. When you think about it that way, it makes perfect sense to buy the cheapest bikes. If you won't use it anyway why waste a lot of money on a high-priced bike.
So the ratings on cheap bikes are from people who either try to use the bike and quickly are dissatisfied and want to let it be known, or they use it a little and like it a little. See if the ratings don't reflect that for the very cheap bikes. You get a lot of sort of mediocre ratings.
Move up to the better bikes, let's call them the medium level bikes, and you get much the same. You get lots of buyers of especially the well-known bikes, mostly Schwinn bikes. The users are often more serious and often reviews reflect lots of actual use.
That leads potential buyers to mostly look at the well-known brands with lots of reviews and high reviews. There is where most people stop looking.
There are other bikes though, the seriously premium bikes more like real gym bikes and commercial bikes. Most people will not get to these bikes.
Consider the Life Fitness R3 Recumbent LifeCycle
With a Lifecycle exercise bike you get a list of features that largely looks like a much less expensive bike. After all the Schwinn 240 bike feature list is almost just like the R3 but the Schwinn costs about a third of what the Life Fitness does. That could not possibly make sense or could it?

Actually the high end bikes are made with far fewer compromises. Build a bike to sell cheap and corners must be cut at most places. That goes for design, components, construction and every other area. Who knows what a bike workout over time can be like? Probably the riders of the high end bikes find out about what subtle differences can make in the exercise workout.
Looking just at recumbent exercise bike ratings leads to a cheap or at least moderate priced bike. That probably is the best spot to stop for most people. However the other choice, the better bikes, may in some ways be a better deal depending on the results one gets.
