Schwinn Active 20 Series Recumbent Exercise Bike
The Schwinn
Active 20 Series Recumbent Exercise Bike
is at the lower end of the Schwinn recumbent bikes. Most people
probably go for recumbent bikes for the comfort part. That's partly for
the lying down posture and partly for the seat itself. This bike even
though priced at a low point, offers comfort and that's helpful to keep
a body pedaling toward fitness.
This bike has powerful electronics including several pre-programmed workouts. The drive is one of those mostly silent eddy current sort of designs that is all but silent according to users. Also, with a magnetic drive you get programmable resistance that matches what you want to do. With the programs you also get routines that simulate real road biking as well.

"I've
had this bike for about 5 weeks now and am very pleased with my
purchase. I just sit in front of the TV and play PS3 for about 1-2
hours every day and burn plenty of calories. The chair is much more
comfortable than our old standard exercise bike, which is paramount
when using it as much as we do. We also looked at the more expensive,
older Schwinn... " - from an Amazon reviewer.
"I've had this bike for about three weeks and I really like it. The bike is sturdy and assembly is easy. There are six preset hill programs to choose from, or you can use one of the six manually levels. Instructions and use of the computer are easy as well. One of the things I like about this bike is the fitness rating option, using the "recovery" button. It monitors your heart rate for 1 minute after you stop exercising, using the pulse sensors in the handles. It monitors the rate your heart slows then gives you a fitness rating from F1 (best) to F6 (worst). I get my heart rate up as high as I can on level 2 just before I stop exercising, and then I hit the recovery button. After exercising for three weeks I've have dropped from F5 to F4. My resting pulse rate has dropped from 80/minute to 65. I have bad knees and hips, but this bike does not aggravate them at all. If you want to strengthen and tone your legs, just put it up to level 6 and do about 20 reps. Level 6 can't be maintained for long, unless your a body builder. You may choose to get a more expensive bike, but I think this model will give you all you need for a good cardio workout. " - another Amazon review. |
The Schwinn Active 20 gets high marks for comfort and ease of use too. Schwinn bikes generally are rated as more reliable than many other brands too. This one also gets high marks for value since the cost is so low and it's very useful for home workouts.
You can go to Amazon and see that the average rating for the Model 20 is close to 5 stars which is the highest rating. Owners like this machine.
That's a real advantage, being able to see lots of ratings by actual owners praising the good part and pointing out the flaws as well. That can be done quickly and easily at Amazon as well as at other online suppliers.
I've ridden one of these. The seat is not nearly as nice looking as more expensive bikes. But funny thing is, the seat and seating position are very comfortable, at least to me... The bike though much lighter than say the Schwinn 230 still has a quality feel. Whether the lighter construction will work for you is something to be determined by each person.
The Schwinn
Active 20 Series Recumbent Exercise Bike is worth a
look if you're considering a recumbent
stationary bicycle and don't
wish to spend a great amount of money.
