Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bike -- Not So Good???
A Schwinn
Airdyne Exercise Bike
does many thing well.
The rugged, stable construction makes it fun to ride and long-lasting too. The dual action design means a workout for upper body as well as legs and hips. It's a sure way to boost your metabolism while burning calories too. There are some problems with the design though...

For one thing, it's fan resistance. The load is generated by turning a big old fan. Faster pedaling means more load... That big fan turning fast means noise. Now, it's just fan noise, but it's lots of noise. It's rushing wind and it drowns out all kinds of other noise.
You won't be listening to quiet music or listening to the music on videos for that matter.
The other major drawback to these bikes is the lack of electronics. There are some basic functions, but no high power computer systems. That means no programmable workouts and limited electronic functions.
Lack of electronics partly goes with the drive. See, the magnetic drives on many machines is the source for the programmable rides. Since the resistance of the Airdyne is the fan turning, there's no need for the magnetic drive.
The plus to lack of electronics is lack of electronic problems. There's no fancy drive to tear up and no electronic gizmos to go haywire. So lack of electronics has it's ups and downs too.
